Healthy Mother to Healthy Child

Background:

A healthy child is a promise to healthy nation. The health of a child depends on inborn health of mother (throughout the reproductive period), especially health of mother during pregnancy, at the time of birth and nurture after birth. Sumandeep Vidyapeeth, Piparia is a partner to the campaign of “Malnutrition Free Gujarat” launched by Government of Gujarat. This project has been originated after the report of Malnutrition survey among under Five Children in Waghodia Taluka conducted by Sumandeep Vidyapeeth in association with Govt. of Gujarat. Looking at the results of the survey and number of malnourished children in Waghodia. The Executive Trustee of Sumandeep Vidyapeeth reviewed this observation with the experts and a vision map was drafted out. This has been epitomized as “Healthy Mother to Healthy Child” project.

The project was envisaged with following objectives:

• To find out baseline socio-demographic data of pregnant mothers in Waghodia taluka
• To carry out follow up of all pregnant and newly pregnant mothers in Waghodia taluka till delivery and post natal till child reach 3 years of age.
• To provide required additional nutritional supplements to mother during ANC and PNC under supervision
• To monitor the health status of the children of these mothers and children till 3 years with focusing on specific indicators

Service Package:

For ANC:

• Registration & Consultation.
• Door to door Pick up & drop services.
• Diagnostic investigations like Ultrasonography, blood and urine tests by specialist doctors
• Multi-vitamin & iron syrups supplementations.
• Provision   of nutritional supplements
• Antenatal vaccines.
• Antenatal diagnosis treatment/intervention as per the guidance of the specialist.

For Intra-Partum Period:

• Free door to door pick up and drop ambulance services.
• Free consultation & hospitalization
• Free medicines and multi-vitamin syrups
• Free food and nutritional support after consultation of the dietician.
• Free Normal or Caesarian delivery

For PNC and Neonate:

• Free Neonatologist’s consultation
• Free Immunization
• Free Care of the child in NICU in case of emergency
• Free Two pair of clothes for neonate
• Free medications and hospitalization
• Nutritional food according to the requirement of lactating mother after consultation of dietician
• Facilities offered at the time of discharge
• Free  drop services
• Free consultation and hospitalization for the child and the mother during post natal period
• Free pick up and drop services according to need
• Free raw food materials, packets to cater food requirement as per the required nutritional value for 6 months of lactation.

Follow-up Services:

• Follow up services by phone calls to the mothers every month.
• Regular check-up and provision of nutritional supplements and medications regularly.
• Transportation of the mothers and the baby to their homes
• Follow  up of the mothers and baby up till 5 years with regular visit to their homes

• Identification, treatment and follow-up of  high risk mother
• Identification and treatment of  mothers with co morbidities which can pose threat to the baby
• Monitor Weight gain of mother during ANC
• Identification of high risk pregnancy through USG services
• Treatment and follow-up of  LBW baby
• Infant mortality
• Maternal  mortality
• Immunization of the children
• Growth and development monitoring of the children
• Development of baby till 3 years of age
• Classification of the babies with SAM, MAM
• Monitor the children who have been treated at DGH and correlate
